Annual SW Colorado (alpine loop) area trip

Anyone planning to be running trails around Ouray last week of August 2025?

    EV thread

I feel like the proponents of EVs just feel transferring the pollution to rural areas where power is produced is better than having it in their front door.

    Piss & Moan Table

Our farm was in southern Indiana along US Hwy 50. Time frame i was there was in the 60's and early 70's so our equipment was only 30-75HP with tricycle front ends (an IH 350, E3 Coop, IH 656, and an 856- no cabs, no roll bars, no turn signals, mechanical dry brakes that would lock up unevenly)...

    Piss & Moan Table

Weatherman says next week Monday 71, followed by high 70's and 80's. Been 50's all this week and we finally see sun today.

    Piss & Moan Table

I hear you. Ice went of the lake a week ago. Dock is in. But where my new house is being built I have ice 14" below the surface where i want to pour the concrete for hydronic heat. So I wait. Roads are posted with 10 ton weight limits anyway. Problem is this means yet another move (#4) until...

Regular vs non ethanol (premium) fuel

Oh Lord - you had to drag me in on this? Its like the old Shell vs BP vs Unbranded. I am not sure if i have the time for this. 20+ years of fossil fuel distribution and experience with the 70's gasohol plus various ethanol blends in this century - I have seen and heard it all. Me: I use whatever...

Regular vs non ethanol (premium) fuel

I also agree with Steelhead. The difference with winter blend is more than warmup- 1) you are pushing colder denser air with your TJ brick, 2) winter gas has less energy content than summer gas. The EPA wants vapor pressure lower in summer so fuel evaporative emissions are less than they would...

    Is it getting cold there?

I left central Wisconsin Friday and the overnight low was -16 with 15 mph winds. Arrived in Caymans that evening to 81 degrees. Even the ice fishermen were not on the ice.

    Anyone added a coolant filter?

The reason they started putting water filters in DIESEL engines was due to issues they were having with wet sleeves and cavitation. Cummins/Fleetguard at that time offered filters with DCA tabs inside to recharge the coolant with additives that prevented cavitation and would be depleted over...

    Has anyone used seat risers?

Don't go by your height alone. I am long leg, short body and my wife is short leg long body. My 2" seat riser blocks are perfect to get the window crank out of my knee, the door strap off my elbow, and my trail view perfect. I had to remove them from the passenger side for my wife who's hair was...

Gear Recommendation for TJ Fest Moab 2021

Is anyone going to carry a fuel can at Moab? When I have done trails around Ouray if I recall correctly i would only get 5-6 gallons in each day after 6 hours on trail. I hate the idea of carrying gas inside the Jeep.
