    4 banger/auto: should I?

FWIW: I've driven a 2.4L (manual) for 19 years. In a headwind?... uphill?... not fun. 4 years ago, the fun returned... or began?: I upgraded from 3.73 to 4.56*. Boom — a noticeable performance boost for the dinky 2.4L. Essentially, I'm one gear higher throughout the range — highway: used to...

    Blower Motor Just Quit Working

Very common. There's an enormous library of blower motor threads. Search up.

    Bike rack options?

(Apologies in advance) FWIW, Woodrow... and at the risk of throwing a downer here — that's a fear you might want to hold on to: I was hit by a car in 2019 — TBI (with a helmet) + spinal fusion surgery. Years of neuro issues, pain and recovery. I still ride... offroad-only. No more metro streets...

Full cargo mat rear seat removed

Nothing redneck about it, man. Did the same thing. Quality rubber mat from Home Depot. Cut it to fit over the carpet. Boom. Clean and durable surface.

    TJs in beautiful places

TJs in beautiful places: ... a mini travelogue for your viewing pleasure — time to Zen-It-Up. Spent yesterday in the northern New Mexico wilderness — traveling on the 18-mile gravel backcountry road through one of the most uniquely-grandiose preserves in the United States. As too often, photos...

    Tire valve replacement

1918. M/T. All 4 tires are in great shape — treads, sidewalls... zero degradation — which is the reason I didn't catch the valves. To look at the old valves, there was no indication — it's only when you bend them do you see the cracks.

    Tire valve replacement

Morning all. I pride myself on preventative maintenance — understatement: anyone that owns a TJ is or should be a master at it. That said, ashamed to say, I missed this one — caught it in time: randomly discovered that all 4 tire valve stems had serious deterioration — cracked and brittle...

Crazy idea for custom cargo rack

I've followed Blake and Chelsea's adventures in their '98 TJ for several years now on IG (@cb_overland) and YouTube. The dude is a DIY master. He built a simple and effective roof rack; their TJ's essentially open-air 365 (certainly not my choice) — that said, you might gain some inspiration...

    Radiator help

8 months ago, the OEM radiator (in my 2006 2.4L) finally died after 18+ years in the surface-of-the-sun heat of South Florida. Surprised it lasted that long — regular flushings and TLC always helps extend the life. Install was a piece of cake — flawless from beginning to end — guaranteed my...

Random Saturday morning thoughts on air density & cooling efficiency

Morning all. I'm seeing more and more radiator-related threads in TJ forums and groups. TMI for a Saturday morning but what the hell: I recently relocated from 19 years in the extreme tropical heat of South Florida to the dry heat of the high desert in New Mexico; I've been curious to...

    3.73 or 4.10 gears?

Summary in advance: 4.56 33s. 3" Teraflex lift. Upgraded gears a few years ago: 4.56 from 3.73. Yukons + EATON 912A569 Trutrac limited slip diff in the rear. The fun returned — a substantial performance boost for the dinky 2.4L. I'm one gear higher throughout the range — highway: used to be...

    Running Hot

(different vehicle - '06 TJ v '06 LJ + Rooster73 didn't identify his engine) ... but FWIW: 8 months ago, I upgraded the 18-year-old stock fan (which spent it's life in the tropical heat of South Florida) because I was moving to the high desert of New Mexico. From sea level to 5300'. Call it...
