Steering wheel audio controls using factory cruise control switches

Yup! Took a chance on a company I had never heard of and was really happy with how it turned out. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/diy-leather-steering-wheel-wrap.88726/

Steering wheel audio controls using factory cruise control switches

Happy to write it up! The closest I could find to someone having documented this was here using a custom board and the WJ steering wheel which had its own dedicated audio controls on the rear of the wheel. For anyone looking to do this more cheaply with a TJ that never came with cruise control...

Steering wheel audio controls using factory cruise control switches

Introduction I recently rewrapped my steering wheel in leather and at the same time installed a set of cruise control switches so that I could control my aftermarket stereo. This will work with any year TJ, although it’s most useful for TJs that never came with cruise control installed. These...

    DIY Leather Steering Wheel Wrap

I honestly just cleaned up the original leather as much as possible and put it right over top. The kit calls for leaving the original leather in place and as long as the underlying padding from the OEM wheel is in place you can't tell once it's all stitched up.

    DIY Leather Steering Wheel Wrap

I've been wanting to upgrade my wheel for a while now. I originally was looking at some of the eBay inventory from the guy in Poland that does the newer model wheels but I have an older 2-spoke setup. I ended up buying another 2-spoke wheel on eBay for about $50 that had damaged leather and...

Pinpointing if Dana 30 leaking from weld or cover

I'll definitely start by cleaning off and monitoring. At the same time as servicing the differential I also replaced the front lower control arms, which I did by jacking up the front axle by the tube and then supporting each end of the tube with jack stands. I wonder if its possible that hole...

Pinpointing if Dana 30 leaking from weld or cover

Looking a bit closer, there appears to be a tiny hole in the weld directly above where the oil is pooling?

Pinpointing if Dana 30 leaking from weld or cover

Hi! I recently replaced the gear oil in the Dana 30 on my TJ. While doing so I reused the Lube Locker gasket I had previously installed and replaced the original differential cover with an aftermarket Spicer branded one. I noticed after a few days of driving that the differential had a slow...

Dana 35 leaking from driver side axle seal after suspension work

Assuming it does need to be replaced, is there I preferred brand of seal and bearing? I did the same job on a Ford 8.8 last year and had good luck with Timken, so it looks like the Timken parts in this case would be: Timken 8660S Timken 5707

Dana 35 leaking from driver side axle seal after suspension work

Hi! I have a 99 Wrangler Sport and was performing a couple of maintenance items this past week that included: Replacing the rear brake hose Replacing the rear sway bar bushings and sway bar links Replacing the rear pinion seal Replacing the rear lower control arms Changing the rear diff fluid...

RTV on splines of pinion yoke

Never heard of such a thing but it does seem like they are primarily targeted at transfer cases? The Dana 35 is a 26 spline I believe so it would be something like this? https://torqueking.com/product/10947/qu10947-26-spline-front-output-yoke-seal-for-transfer-cases/

RTV on splines of pinion yoke

Hey! I drive a 99 Wrangler Sport and was changing the oil in the rear Dana 35 when I decided to replace the pinion seal which had been leaking slightly. Upon removing the yoke, I noticed whoever had previously serviced the differential had coated a pretty large amount of RTV on the splines of...

Time to change your cabin air filter

I drilled holes and then used washer head screws. They didn't add screw holes in the TJ until they switched over to using that covered trim piece. In the earlier models there are no holes and no covering, mine is a 99.

Time to change your cabin air filter

I just did this over the weekend but I can certainly report back after trying it out this week.
