    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

New bearings. I thought about the backlash, but I don't think that's it. It's still in spec - which is 3 to 12 - just on the low side. When I set it up last year it was 5 thou, compared to the 4 I did this time. I would think if it were too tight on a good R&P, the noise would be more even...

    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

Ever have one of those days when you wake up to sunshine, in a great mood, looking forward to life, excited for your next project - and then a GM 14 bolt destroys it all??? Yup. I buttoned it all up this morning and took it out for a test drive. The noise is still there. Exactly as it was...

And then it was just a matter of getting everything back together. First up, I pressed on new carrier bearings: I've lost count of how many times I've had to sneak this one by the wife... But worth it. At 200 degrees, the ring gear slips on easily. And here it is all back together...

    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

Well, I finally ran out of other things to do (read: excuses), so I dug into the 14 bolt. The new ARB locker is on the right. I mic'd the failed bearing journal and it was a full 20 thou less diameter than the new one. I ran the diff oil though a filter looking for metal. Fully expecting...

Power hungry 4.0: how to give it what it wants?

I'd give anyone else here grief about this statement, Chris, but your ability to completely eliminate my forum existence at the touch of a key keeps me from doing so... 😉 😀

Power hungry 4.0: how to give it what it wants?

Performance is always about the entire package. You can't simply address one issue and expect good results. I ran a supercharged I-6 for years in my rig. It made 300 ponies and 400 torque. 100% reliably. I ran 4.88's on that setup with 35's for a while, and even with the small tires it...

Car changes gears but won’t move

You need to fill the converter when you install it. That could be the problem. Although it will fill eventually, dry starting can damage the pump.

    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

A short while ago I reached out to a fellow forum member about an Idea I had for a sewing project. As the project involved fire hose, and given this member's expertise in that area, I asked for ideas on where I could get some. Without being asked, he then sent me this stuff which showed up...

What have you 3D printed for your TJ?

I actually considered that, but decided I'd rather have it match the winch.
