    Observation On Soft Top Repairs

I had to replace the zippers on the main top, so replacement window panels wasn't an option. And I like to do things myself and save a few dollars.

    Observation On Soft Top Repairs

I found an error in the post but can't figure out how to make an edit. The line says "An now rain has forced its way through the seams." It should read "And no rain has forced its way through the seams."

    Observation On Soft Top Repairs

Last fall I was looking around for some side and rear windows for my '05 Wrangler Rubicon. I ended up finding some which required new plastic windows, as well as zippers, and have some observations on how it went. My original intent was to remove the old plastic windows by carefully heating...

    Radio FM Went Dead

Thanks for the link. I'm sewing new windows in my soft top for the summer. Anything waterproof and heavy is always best.

    Radio FM Went Dead

Thanks for the tip, Zorba. I'll look into the Jensen. I can add my existing OEM to the pile in the basement.

    Radio FM Went Dead

There is normal sound levels on AM and the CD player. Is there a separate audio amp just for FM? Boogieman, I still have a 78 RPM hand-crank record player, so eight tracks are pretty advanced for me.

    Radio FM Went Dead

I started m '05 Wrangler TJ the other day and discovered that the FM portion no longer worked. The CD player and AM work fine. The scan function on FM still locates channels, but no sound. I checked the the antenna connector and there was no corrosion or anything out of the ordinary. The...

    Steering Wheel Rattle

I've noticed a rattle in the steering wheel when turning and hitting a bump. Nothing major, just a light rattle that I wanted to look into. I went underneath and checked all of the steering components and lubed everything. Everything was tight, but the problem persisted. I took it to my...

Taking up Sewing - Need Advice

Check with a local upholstery shop. When I was looking around for a commercial machine I dropped in one day for some advise. Turned out they just replaced all of their machines, and hadn't decided on what to do with them. They pulled out three machines, prepped them and let me try them out...

    What was your first Jeep?

1977 CJ-7 black Golden Eagle edition with a 304, Hooker headers, glass packs, three speed, rag top, 4" lift, 35" mudders and an 8-track. Unbearably rough ride and freezing cold in winter, but oh so cool.

    Clutch Safety Switch Problem

Belay my last comment. I have a blank in fuse #28, not contacts. And I didn't notice the 4L light on the dash when I engaged it. I use 4L pretty regularly in the winter. I'll crawl underneath and see if there is corrosion on the contact.

    Clutch Safety Switch Problem

Thanks for the info. There is one there already, and it seems to be intact. I'll swap it out on the chance there is an unseen break at the bottom causing it to intermittently short out.

    Clutch Safety Switch Problem

I tried to start my '05 Rubicon the other day, but when I stepped on the clutch and turned the key nothing happened. Cursing my lazy self for not bypassing the clutch safety switch months ago, I put it into four-low and turned the key. Still nothing. Pushed the transfer case lever back and...

What did you do to / in your garage / shop today?

Chopped ice from the driveway all afternoon. Boring, but needed to get done before next snowstorm blocked the door completely.
