It is a different part from the distributor ring. It goes into your bellhousing

This sounds like a Camshaft Position Sensor. If you are getting a blip at a specific RPM depending on gear. I chased it for 2 months until I figured it out. Cringed at 2700 in 3rd. Hit every time.

Ignition switch actuator pin. If you rotate your key to the start position, but your dash lights don’t go out (air bag, engine, etc.) then the pin may have broken. Have you tried jumping your starter with a screwdriver?🪛 Other culprit maybe a ground. Here’s a link. 12 bucks on Amazon...
