    Poor Man's Stroker Recommendations

No, they're unique, but the pattern is well documented and adapter plates exist to convert it to the SBC pattern. Or because the 4/5cyl Atlas motors were available with an AR5 transmission, the bellhousing from those will bolt onto an AX15/NV3550 with minimal modification. You will need a...

Building a diesel powered RHD TJ Wrangler (Picture Heavy)

For shits and grins I checked the idle speed of my Canyon while it was doing a DPF regen today - 900RPM, and it doesn't push through the brakes at all. I don't know what stall speed they've set the 6L50 up with, but it is definitely configured to lock the converter early and often to offset any...

    Arizona Rock Crawler

The PO of my TJ did that. Never spun the nutserts, but I did strip a few of them out and had to replace them anyway. Only took a few seconds with an angle grinder to grind off the welds. So I'd say good idea, but at the same time I didn't bother dragging my welder out to do the same to the new...

Building a diesel powered RHD TJ Wrangler (Picture Heavy)

Dealt with that exact starter issue - and solution - on many a classic GM product. The old-school fix used to be a Ford starter solenoid, but that's overkill and a Bosch-style relay does the same job with much less work. I'm surprised the TDI idles that high, honestly (though it does seem to...

What advantages does the Zerex G05 coolant really have?

Huh, you're not kidding. But then the cynic in me also suspects it's a meaningless claim; I'm sure they'll couch that claim with "or manufacturer's recommendation", same as Prestone does.

What advantages does the Zerex G05 coolant really have?

Also worth pointing out that the 5yr/150k green Prestone is not the same as the inorganic green antifreeze that would've been the factory fill; it's still an organic antifreeze similar to the G05. The main difference is the dye, and the lack of any additives that will cause problems when mixed...

What advantages does the Zerex G05 coolant really have?

Worth noting there's zero difference in the cooling systems between '97-'01 TJs that came with classic green coolant and '02-'06 TJs that came with G05. It was a change DaimlerChrysler made across their entire lineup, not the result of anything in the vehicle that required it.

What advantages does the Zerex G05 coolant really have?

Zero benefits other than long life, and personally, I hate G05 because the dye is so faint it looks about the same as clean motor oil or brake fluid.

Custom microprocessor (Arduino, Pi, etc) Jeep project thread

Another possible option for interfacing with the PCI bus directly if going the ELM327 route proves too problematic: https://github.com/laszlodaniel/CCDPCIBusTransceiver?tab=readme-ov-file

Custom microprocessor (Arduino, Pi, etc) Jeep project thread

Funny enough, I've been thinking about this exact sort of setup, except using one of the Silverado 15" PWM fans and a simple fan shroud with the Burndown bracket. Just being able to command the fan on at least a minimum speed any time the air conditioning is running would be worth it.

'03 TJ Trans/T-Case Vibration during Acceleration

"Slower than engine speed, higher than tire speed, roughly triples in frequency in 4LO" all sounds like it's either output-side of the transmission or input side of the transfer case. Input side of the transmission is always matched to engine speed, output side of transfer case is always...

    Arizona Tow Pigging Daily Driver

Yep - even the best surge brakes are worse than electric brakes. The only part on that I might be a bit spoiled on is I've never towed with the specific combo of an aftermarket brake controller and a trailer with electric brakes. My WJ had an aftermarket controller from the original owner...

New Cloyes timing sprocket (crank side) is too tight

It's been going on longer than just a year, too. I bought a Cloyes set from OReilly in 2020 that had the exact same "crank sprocket too tight" problem. Meanwhile the Autozone set had a cam gear that wouldn't fit. Local Jeep dealer wouldn't even attempt to order one. Ended up mixing and...

Yup, can't argue with a solid copper license plate. My TJ still has three years to go.

Copper plates have zero restrictions other than 25 years old, and provide no benefits other than looking good. The emissions exemption requires classic/limited-use insurance, which doesn't require any specific plate type.
