Offset balljoints: good, bad, and ugly?

Correct. If I hold the wheel perfectly straight, drifts left. If I let the wheel "relax" as I pictured, it pulls harder left.

Offset balljoints: good, bad, and ugly?

Will do, I have another alignment scheduled. If I firmly hold the wheel perfectly straight, does that prevent the steering valve from opening? I ask because it still pulls a little left when I hold the wheel perfectly straight.

Offset balljoints: good, bad, and ugly?

Not perfectly. This is the position letting the wheel find its natural place while driving and taking my hands off. At the time of alignment, the right ball joints had a little play. I since replace those but it had no affect on the pull to left. Alighment shop was recommending adjustable...

Offset balljoints: good, bad, and ugly?

I have a similar issue. My LJ pulls pretty hard to the left. Got new tires recently and it still pulls left (regardless of moving tires around). It's a firm pull regardless of road crown or completely level road. Alignment shop aldo recommended an adjustable ball joint. My LJ used to drive...

Tips for getting the most money from your insurance after an accident

Hire an auto appraiser. Cost you about $500. A few years ago I was going the rounds with insurance on my totaled Acura. I paid an appraiser. They wrote an appraisal report and worked with the insurance agent. They also have access to actual sales data, not just listings. I got $1,500 more...

    Ball Joint-Install Adapters

Nearly every thread regarding replacing ball joints references the OTC 7894 adapter kit or using the rental adapters at AutoZone. But.....isn't a tapered adapter needed for the install????? The OTC 7894 adapters I got does not have a tapered adapter (nor does any of the AutoZone rental...

    What Battery Charger?

CTEK 7002. Great charger. Mine has lasted 10 years so far. I needed to warranty my Odyssey battery a couple of years ago. The fact I was able to state that I kept the old battery maintained with a CTEK was a plus getting the battery warrantied. Porsche branded chargers are CTEK for what...

    Costco Battery Warranty Now Prorated

Costco started changing to a prorated warranty in July 2023. Batteries purchased before that date still were still eligible for the warranty that existed on the date of purchase.

How to install a Derale 20561 transmission cooler on your Wrangler TJ

I was an early adopter of the Derele cooler and it's been so so. What are the "better coolers" you like?

Thoughts on high mileage LJ Rubicon? 1 owner 193k miles

If you are committed to buying it, have you considered having it shipped to you? Likely cost you less than all the travel expenses. I had mine shipped when I purchased it.

Starter advice: aftermarket brands vs remanufactured

Do you have a shop local that rebuilds starters and alternators? I take mine to a local shop. The cost is 1/2 the auto parts stores and likely much better quality.

    Insurance policy

Might be zip code dependent. I cannot select Jeep for any year with my zip code. I have my 05 LJ insured with Hagerty plus another vehicle.

    Insurance policy

Bummer, mine is with Hagerty as well. Jeep is no longer listed on their website when you select a vehicle to insure.

Motor Mount Bolt Size (With 1" motor mount lift)

A parts diagram shows the original bolts were M10x1.50x35mm. Adding for a 1" MML, I think I am looking for a M10x1.5x60mm? class 10.9 Anyone confirm? Any idea about the bolt extenders....their size or where to source?

Motor Mount Bolt Size (With 1" motor mount lift)

What is the bolt size of the thru bolts for the motor mounts (with a 1" motor mount lift)? One of mine sheered off. Trying to find replacements before extracting the broken piece. I was going to just remove the good side and measure, but it's really frozen so not going to attempt. I probably...
