    2005 LJR Flame Red

I'm still getting clanking in the front end after installing the replacement sway bar links. I'm thinking probably tie rod end... which opens the door for the ZJ steering upgrade. Since it's getting toward the end of Jeep season here, I'm probably going to hold off on a new battery and the...

    Hood compatibility

I have a '97 hood installed on my '05. This is correct. I put a Y in the washer line to accommodate the two nozzles in the '97 hood. The latch is a bit trickier, because in 97' the latch is in the grille, whereas in later years it's mounted to the hood. There is a spot on the '97 hood that you...

    2005 LJR Flame Red

9/14/2040 reaaaally close to 150k The radio functions came back! All buttons seem to work fine. I celebrated by removing the terrible CD and setting the time. Music still vanishes into the sonosphere at any speed above 35 mph, though, so an upgrade is in order. I went with a few friends to see...

    2005 LJR Flame Red

The reverse lights worked just fine last night… can’t explain that at all. I don’t like intermittent issues. The weather is getting colder at night. I may have to start thinking about putting the Jeep up for the winter.

    Spiderweb Shade vs Bikini Top

I tried this running around over the weekend. I had a hoodie stuffed up in there. It stayed up there just fine but started to peek out on the highway above 75 mph. Those speeds are pretty rare, though, so I'd say generally it's a good spot to stash stuff.

    Spiderweb Shade vs Bikini Top

I have the same one, but I removed it to install my TrekTop. Do the door surrounds get in the way of the bungees? I may put the mesh top back on if they don’t interfere. I really don’t like the door surrounds, but they’re a necessary evil, I guess. EDIT: I went out and in 10 minutes had my own...

    2005 LJR Flame Red

My radio buttons are working again! At least, some of them are. I've arrived at the FM station I listen to most and I'm afraid to touch anything else. My reverse lights stopped working suddenly. The fuse is good, and the 12VDC at the fuse switches when shifting in & out of reverse... so it's...

The TJ pay it forward thread

Anyone need an unmolested knee bolster / steering wheel trim for an early TJ? I don't know what years it fits, but my '05 has the headlight switch on the MFS and isn't Mist Gray inside. Pay for shipping and it's yours.

    Need a Trektop NX hack

I like this. Might do it myself.

    Need a Trektop NX hack

OK - I found the reason for the straps today, and I'm going to start using them again. One of the rear straps popped loose on the way home while the sunrider was up. I pulled over and took a look at it, and I realized that when the top is up the only thing keeping the fabric from sliding toward...

    Need a Trektop NX hack

Front bow is gone. Funny how much more open the top looks without that 2" wide strip of aluminum. I undid the two buckles at the B-pillar roll bars and let the straps hang. It's still a little bunched up because the webbing is still pinched between the pods and the roll bar. I think the straps...

    Need a Trektop NX hack

It bunches on my LJ. Looks weird. I haven't tried without the straps. Maybe I'll do that later today.

    Need a Trektop NX hack

Don't notch the foam! Notch the pod!!! Those pods are probably $30 unloaded. The roll bar covers though... almost unobtanium for LJs.

That took a little time for me. On the passenger side, it slid right through. Driver side, the speaker pod left no room and I needed to loosen it up. If I want to remove/reinstall the fabric only, it won't be tool-less unless I space that pod out a bit.
