    Off-road Campers (Towing with LJ)

No matter what the weight, electric trailer brakes make towing a much nicer experience. I'd strongly suggest them. I'm running a Redarc Tow Pro controller in the Jeep. My camper is around 1800lb's and the jeep tows it fine. My camper has all of the bells and whistles (will be getting hot water...

Using the DRB III to Calibrate a New Cam Sensor in the 4.0 Engine (2000-2006)

I'd just pull the OPDA and check the gears but frankly unless you are having issues with squealing or the like it's a waste of time. Guarantee it's a stretched timing chain with those codes and it's moved the timing past where the ECU can compensate. The timing chain in these isn't that bad a...

Using the DRB III to Calibrate a New Cam Sensor in the 4.0 Engine (2000-2006)

I battled with 0344 errors for a couple of years on my 05/06 , did all of the suggestions you read about, sometimes you felt it was fixed but alas it wasn't. Crank and cam sensors replaced a few times with the same result. Vehicle would run without an engine light, then go into limp mode throw...

You really don't get it, I'll try again but this is the last time. The allowable self certified 75mm ride height change is made up through a maximum 50mm suspension lift thats manufacturer certified to comply with the requirements of the legislation The tyre change is to a maximum 50mm...

Help interpreting legality of bigger tires and lift in Australia

There are two different assessments being done here. 1. Manufacture assessed: The suspension manufacturer is assessing that the kit designed for 'x' vehicle meets the requirements for manufacture/handling/height laid out in the legislation before it goes on sale. 2. Self assessed: The consumer...

Help interpreting legality of bigger tires and lift in Australia

You state that the requirements are completely lumped on the suspension kit manufacturer. Do you not trust said manufacturer to provide you with a legal kit? The bulk of people would be buying a well known commercial 50mm suspension kit, along with fitting up to a 50mm larger diameter tyre as...

So it's a trust issue and you want documented evidence from the manufacturer per compliance. How do you perceive others may have achieved what your exploring?

Well he's now 85, I'm impressed with the old bastard.

Help interpreting legality of bigger tires and lift in Australia

Whatever your interpretation of the relevant legislation (its the same legislation), you're looking for issues that just aren't there. Companies like Superior give a lot of engineering data with kits because the lifts they manufacture for Toyotas and Nissans. All require lots of mods/welding to...

I'll play. What you're looking at is for self assessment purposes so follow these rules and you "should" be ok. The wording of VSB 8 option 1 is below. Option 1 allows for a maximum suspension lift of 50mm, provided that at least two-thirds of original suspension travel in either direction is...

At the risk of getting flamed, does anyone use airbags for the rear for weight leveling?

I used a local airbag manufacturer for my kit. They've. been in for quite a while now and still happy with the outcome. Day to day you don't know they are there, add some weight to the back and its a couple of minute job to level and firm up the back of the jeep.

Help installing Stedi Homage replacement headlights

The DRL only has a positive wire, so yes you only need that. Check it all works and then just snip off the original light fitting. I'd just use some heat shrink or electrical tape and tape up the old earth to the outside of the positive wire so it doesn't hang. That allows you to go back to...

Help installing Stedi Homage replacement headlights

You'll have a positive and negative wire on the small loom going to the old parking light. Looks like a blue and black wire, the blue will be the positive wire. Just cut and splice into that one, remember you won't get power to that wire unless you turn on your parking lamps. The Stedi...
