Is Rock Hard 4x4 rear tire carrier / bumper still the overall recommendation?

And then, once you've got the spare off the tailgate, get a kit from SWAG so your tailgate can be used as a table. https://www.swagoffroad.com/products/swag-jeep-wrangler-aluminum-drop-down-tailgate-conversion-kit I had a lot of holes drilled in my tailgate when I mounted a higher spare tire...

Is Rock Hard 4x4 rear tire carrier / bumper still the overall recommendation?

Dirtworx rear bumper with swing-away spare tire carrier. https://www.thedirtworx.com/product-page/tire-carrier-with-single-can-mount $729.99 with the offset tire and mount for a jerry can. It comes bare - you need to paint it (I used gloss black spray-paint). This is what I'm running on my...

Washington Huge WA 4x4 Swap Meet in March 2023

Seems like every year I go I find something I didn't know I needed (hence the backpack). And as usual, the day prior (9 March) they're having the annual Mike & Key Electronics Show and Swap Meet. Think Ham radios. https://www.mikeandkey.org/SwapMeet.php...

Awesome. Here's a link for everyone: https://www.moonshinersjeepclub.com/swapmeet/ For those of you who have never attended, this event is huge. It isn't just a couple tables with some stuff a few guys are getting rid of. You'll be walking down isles and such for a while. I bring a...

Washington Huge WA 4x4 Swap Meet in March 2023

The 2024 4x4 swap meet is this Sunday, 10 March; same place and times. I'll be there even though I don't technically "need" anything for any of my Jeeps. It's still fun to attend and see what's out there.

Toyota lights on your TJ! Cheap, quality LED alternative

I think it is the plug that goes to your headlight itself.
  7. ArmyRN

What did you do to your TJ today?

Replacing the battery. It had a Di-Hard 65 series battery. What's interesting is the battery is dated 3-12. Almost 12 years old! Replaced it with a 65 series AGM battery from Wal-Mart ($179.00 before tax).

Toyota H4 headlight kit heads up

I put these Toyota lights in my 46 Willys CJ2A. Already had an H4 set-up in my TJ.

Reviews for the Camper/Jeep King TJ Hard Tops

It is always nice if you can provide a link and possibly a picture when you're asking about a product. I have a Bull Dawg hardtop and their half-doors on my TJ, and have been happy with it...

    2.5 4-cylinder upgrades

GEARING!!! OMG - GEARING!!!!! Stock SE TJ's came with 4.10 gears and dinky tires. Now you're up to 33" tires. You need either 4.88 or 5.13 gears. Not only will you get your 5th gear back, but you'll also enjoy easier take-offs from standing still in first gear with lower gears. It will be a...

    Finally Found A Remanufactured Engine!

The engines are well oiled before they're sealed in a bag. Keeps them from rusting. Keeps it slippery. This is a good thing. It is ok if some oil drains down.

Gearing opinions (I know ANOTHER one) but for a 2.5 with Dana 489's

That's me - ArmyRN. 98 TJ 2.5/ five speed, Dana 30 front Aussie locker 27 spline alloy shafts, Dana 44 rear Detroit locker 33 spline alloy shafts. MT Baja Boss AT 285-75-16" (33") tires, 3.5" RE lift. 4.88 gears. Kinda wish I had gone 5.13 gears, but don't remember if that was an option in...

    Engine replacement advise

Yes. There is a bit of work involved. Still way cheaper to replace the clutch now vs. once the engine is already in place. I don't know how much you have to mess with the clutch normally (if at all) when just doing an engine replacement.

What is the best 16 inch tire size for my 97 TJ 4-cylinder?

I've got a 98 TJ with the 2.5/five-speed. 3.5" RE lift, swapped-in Dana 44 rear, 285/75/16" (33") tires. I think 285/75/16" tires are a perfect size for a four-cylinder TJ. Not too tall and not too wide. Won't overstress the front Dana 30. You want to regear it to at least 4.88 gears...
