What did you do to your TJ today?

Removed hard top and full doors. I have half doors, but I ordered some dietech mirror brackets and think I'll go doorless for a while.

Had a Jeep first. After spending several hours replacing a leaking RMS, which I had previously replaced, I was laying on the cool concrete floor inspecting my work. I completed the inspection, closed my eyes, and woke up 45 minutes later relaxed and refreshed. When I went inside, my wife greeted me with a cold drink and said she was worried about me working so hard in the heat. I told her it was tough, but I managed! :sneaky:

Spent most of the day grinding off the head of the forward recovery hook bolt that spun its nut inside the frame. The objective was to get the rear bumper off, so I can do some cleanup/rustproofing of the rearmost part of the frame - which is the rustiest on this Jeep. Not bad, but needs attention. Then I can install the rear bumper braces (Next Venture Motorsports), and put the stock rear bumper back on for the time being as I'm not quite ready to get the new one fabbed up.

Note to self: 3 inch hoop earrings are a nuisance when working under the Jeep. Wear something smaller next time!
Damn still making yall wear masks over there?

Like this idea. I've been struggling with a throttle body issue that I can't track down. Engine will run higher RPM at a full stop after warmed up but if I put my foot under the gas pedal and pull up, the RPMs then drop. I've replaced the pedal-to-throttle body cable (think it was binding) and still the same issue. It's not all the time but intermittent, so tough to track down. (Issue loves to show up on the way to work - great time for troubleshooting....)

I'm planning for a full throttle body teardown to look for other reasons/general maintenance. I may use your new spring approach when I reinstall. Glad to know I can grab them local. (y)

If that new spring started out with all the coils touching, like the old one is in that picture, or even if the coils started out a lot closer together it's probably pulling too much when in that position. You really only want the extra strength to do what needs done and then do as little as possible when it's not needed.

I'm only mentioning that because that picture reminds me of similar things done to carburetors many years ago that resulted in the throttle shaft wearing the hole in the carburetor body that it passed through causing a vacuum leak, eventually to the point of barely running.

I'm not saying "Don't add a spring", just don't over do it.

I did that years ago and it made a big difference. You'll enjoy it.
