TJ Fest 2021 - Moab (April 24 – May 1, 2021)

Just registered, running 31's with 2.5" of lift and open diffs, flying solo without a spotter. I've never been to Moab before, so the initial plan is to do 3s and below, maybe 4s provided bypasses where necessary.

Fyi for anyone looking to connect for similar types of trails.

Looks like there will be a couple of us that can group up and hit the easy/scenic trails while both teams are hitting the big boy trails. I think I'm going to tag along with team LJ for the 25, 26 and 28 so far. But the 24 and 27 I'll be looking for easier trails!

I'm keeping a list of all you guys on 31s, once Chris gets the new section up for planning for TJ Fest I'll tag you guys and we can talk about what days we need to find easier trails!

Okay, from now on all TJ Fest related discussions go in this forum:

https://wranglertjforum.com/forums/tj-fest-2021.240/
This should help people find things easier. During the event we can post things in this forum such as different groups, where each group is wheeling, meet-up spots, other actives, common areas for meeting up, dinner plans, etc.

Post something, others will see it, and people can join.

You guys on 31’s and 2-2.5” of lift can do a lot more than 3’s. 3’s you could do in the new Jeep Renegade. If you’re just looking for scenic, ok.
I breezed through Fins last year on 4", Dana 30/35, no lockers, & terrible suspension geometry.

Yeah, but wasn’t Chicken Corners a little too bumpy for ya? 😉

Lol yeah I stanced on n 8" boulder. It was scary.

Chicken Corners was fine & a lot of fun, but by the end of Fins my family was over it. The first half wasn't bad, but by the time we finished it my wife & kids were sick of getting thrashed around & didn't want to do any more trails. This year I should have a day or two where they'll hang by the pool or go biking so I can get out on my own.

Fins is a great trail (atleast the first half) for a stock jeep.
I thought it was the second half. First half can be bumpy due to rocks. Second half is the fins, smooth and just steep. 🧐

I thought the first half was the fins, second half was all the rocks.

The second half has one steep descent that can get a bit off camber. The TFL guys run the first half. Unless I'm completely backwards.

The second half being you start at the radio tower. It only takes an hour and is super fun.

You’re correct, there’s the loose descent before you get to all the fins and where it smooths out. TFL only seems to do the first portion.

It's a great trail though. It's technical enough to be interesting but not difficult. I let the GF drive it last time we were there, she did the entire trail.
