So here are 3 pictures.
1. Plenty of room inside the wheel well.
2. not quite as much spring travel.
3. Not even close to enough up travel for my shock.

more important thing is where do your 35s hit your tub, not the space above the tire.

On mine its at about the 45 degree spot on the tub in the rear of the fenderwell

I’ll cycle it and see. But it’s pretty much centered so it should be fairly close to the top . But if my shock only has 4.5” of up travel , my tire won’t have a chance to even get close .?

Most of the time when people post pictures like this they are trying to get out of cycling their suspension. You can't. You have to remove the springs and do the dirty work.
X2, I can’t stress this enough.

You also need to be careful in picking a spring and shock that work together as oppose to just going with whatever.

My 35s don't fit in the wheelwell, regardless of the axle position (at least I don't think they would based on cycling)... 2" of bumpstop keeps my trackbar out of the gas tank/crossmember and my tires super close to the tub

But each tire is different.

Come on Chris. Prior to me installing my 8.8 , my tire stopped about an inch before hitting the top of the wheel well. I dont know why I just saw this but that shock up travel is only 4&1/2”.

I don’t mind doing it at all. but I just got to the rear to start cycling things and noticed only about 4&1/2” of shock up travel. Kinda weird. I just installed an 8.8 several weeks ago and just getting to all the suspension.

Well. I guess in a perfect world the spring , shock and room to move the tire up into the wheel well would all measure the same.
but I want To use as much Of the wheel well as possible. But looking at the up travel of the shock ( which is only 4&1/2” , well the shock will bottom out long beforE the tire ever gets close to the top of the wheel well.

Are you asking why the 10.5" space between the tire and the tub is not all useable uptravel?
Back a few months ago when I still had my Dana 35 I had more shock travel than that , so maybe the shock mounts are a little higher on the8.8 than the Dana 35 ? But moving forward , I do not want my shock to bottom out long before they should or before the bump stop does it’s job.

Your tire isn’t going to move straight up, it’s going to move up in an arc.

yes sir I understand that. ill start the cycle process tomorrow and see what bottoms out first. And get back to y’all. My bet is I will have to out board my shocks to get a little more room to move

If the shock travel is 50/50, it doesn't matter how much of the wheel well is filled up. You need to get to a 35 with 12" shocks before the wheel well might get in the way.

When installed correctly with the travel split in half at ride height, you won't be filling the wheel opening at full stuff using those shocks.

Am I thinking right by saying , even if I were to use a longer shock the up travel would still be the same as it is now ? Because of the upper bracket location.
the shock does not determine ride height, that’s the springs job right ?

Your travel bias is 53.5% down/46.5% up, to get anymore up travel you would need to either, find a shock with less compressed length that doesn’t sacrifice any extended length, lower your axle shock mount, or outboard your shocks.
