33" tire recommendations for a 15" wheel?

A lot of people running hybrid tires like nitto ridge grapplers, Toyo open country rt, Cooper sst pros and so on.
Basically cross between an all terrain and a mud terrain. Stylish design that performs good on and off road.

I see a lot of these tires on trucks that never go off-road at all. Kinda like the lifted trucks you can buy new from the dealership.

My guess would be the nittos are most popular, but I have no idea if they make them in a 15. Most of those trucks are running 20s..

I got Ko2 33x10.5. My jeep is 99% DD, the most offroad i do is maybe onces a year to a muddy trail and when we get bad weather some roads turn into river and dont even get me started on dirt roads. With 10.5" tires spacers or new rims are not needed. Very happy with the performance on/off road

Do you have a pic? Want to see how the 33x10.5 look

I ran Wrangler Duratracs in 33x12.5 r15 for several years and they worked great on and off road. They're pretty quiet, light and you'll be able to put a lot of kms on them. I never ran them in the winter but they are winter rated and I've heard from several people here in Ontario that they work well.

If you are planning to be on the road then any M/T will be a poor choice. They are for mud and that is where they shine. So if the road you take to work every day isn't made of 6" or more of gooey slimy mud then you might want to think of a different tire. I doubt the cop at your accident will say "boy, was goi g to give you a ticket for causing this accident, but wow! Those tires look cool."
Have you ever driven a mud tire on the road? They aren't unsafe, just not as pleasant as an all terrain. I've put thousands of miles on my mud terrains with no issues in any conditions on paved roads. They are noisy though, but I don't mind the sacrifice for the offroad performance.

These are what i have that came with the car whrn i bough it. They are 31x10.5 and they look new, but would like to get 33"s 10.5 or 12.5.

I second or third or w/e STT Pros. Great in all elements and off road. I have over 100k miles between sets on 3 jeeps (33,35,37s) and wouldn’t run anything else. 14/15 balanced very well and one took more than a normal amount of weight. Not too loud on the street (I don’t really notice it)

For daily driving I’d go 10” wide, less rolling weight, and the at’s are quieter, went from lj rubicon Goodyear mt stock to BFg at and it was a night and day difference

I’ve been running the BFG KO2 33 x 10.5 R15 for a bit over a year and I’ve been happy with them for on road, off road, and snow. I like the look of them too. With my 8” rims, they weigh ~71lbs, which isn’t too bad.

To be fair, I haven’t really tried others, so it may be a case of ignorance is bliss. But I’m happy nonetheless.

Great to see others in here running 33 10's, I have run 33 12's on my first TJ and I can tell you the 10's are a far better and a safer choice for many reasons:
  • Less heat on all your suspension components.
  • Ball joints, wheel bearings and steering components will last longer.
  • Handle better when pushed hard.
  • Go further in almost all off road situations.
  • Better fuel economy on account of less rolling resistance.
  • Sidewalls flex more on higher pressures.
  • Weigh less and cost less.
Let the flaming begin...

Cooper STT Pros!!! I put these on every 4x4 I own. They ride super quiet on the highway, they do amazing in snow, mud, sand, dirt, and the rocks. In my humble opinion they are the best all around tire for a TJ Wrangler. Plus they wear so well. I've got nearly 20,000 on my set and they look to be somewhere near or more than 3/4 tread remaining. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but tires in general wear so well on TJ wranglers, I'm assuming it's because they are so light? Anyways, here is a pic of my TJ Rubicon With 33/12.50/15 Cooper STT pros.
