Couldn't speak to heating oil, but they should be taxing Tesla and other EV owners additionally
My state has done something to that effect. EVs pay an additional $180, and hybrid vehicles pay an additional $90, for annual registration to cover lost road tax typically collected through fuel sales. I know a bougie chick who traded her Jeep in for a Tesla last year "to save money on gas", now she's bitching about the extra charge.
Edit; I just looked and the tax is $0.405 per gallon. I did the math and it looks like they based that price on an average of around 10,000 miles driven per year. So an EV exceeding that is "saving" money, all under it are paying a premium. Knowing who I typically see in Teslas around here, I doubt many are crossing that 10K mile line by much.
