Thanks very much. A water pump was actually on my list. Just bought it.

Did you see the Amazon reviews? Seems many pumps arrive with broken impellers and dented housings due to not being packaged properly. Sounds like the pumps are in a thin box with no internal padding, just as you would find on a parts counter shelf, and NOT intended to be shipped.

Were those reviews for water pumps from World Parts Direct? The discounted listing is not a Prime item, which means it’s being drop shipped.

My spare Mopar radiator from WPD arrived in excellent condition.

Also, the Mopar water pump I got via prime last year arrived just fine. I returned it because I couldn’t stomach paying $250 when the Gates was around $50 and arrived a day earlier. Amazon shows my purchase last year under the same listing when mine shipped from Amazon (Prime), so the reviews are mixed in together.

Mine arrived today. Gasket was a little bent, but not badly.

Looked inside the water pump and pulled out two strips of metal, thin and bent, almost like pencil shavings. Can't see where they came off of anything inside. Impeller turns freely. Any ideas? Smaller one looks like it could have come from the threading process.

I got one to keep as a spare, but I'll check mine when it arrives. Thanks for heads up.

I'll use a Fel-Pro gasket when I eventually do the install.

Looks like metal from the machining process. The spiral metal is what you’d expect to see coming off a lathe. Dang, you’d think that would be removed in a cleaning process

Spiral chips are common when machining aluminum…not something I’d want my customer to see. :/

Instead of OEM? Should I do the same?

If the gasket looks compromised, I don’t think it’s foolish to use a Fel-Pro.

I use fel-pro gaskets when installing the throttle body, thermostat housing, water pump, etc.

Crazy the price drop. I think it was $200-$250 from the dealership last year and they now have them at $118 from the mopar dealer down the street. That’s 68382492AA but all the same. Wander if the supplier changed resulting in the poor Quality Control. Maybe I’ll grab one up to have on the shelf.

Yea, it was around $250 on Amazon last year.

I didn't notice the part number change until you listed it. SSTJ received part no. 68382492AA, which is also the version currently listed on the Mopar retail sites (for around $70 plus shipping).

Even the MSRP has dropped:
