Easier to analyze

I remember my first attempt at sliders. Still livin with them, but at least they span the width of the wheel openings

So I haven't been on this forum in a while. I pop around for stints of a year or two forum to forum depending on what vehicle I'm fixing up at the time. As some context, been buying Savvy for well over 15 years now and installed the mid arm on my TJ.

I was also reading this thread for a while but I don't have the time to keep up with it.

Anyway, been building out my Gladiator on 40s and needed some inner fenders and the Savvy Designz (I guess they dropped the Z but you still see it on your bank charge) looked best so ordered those up. First time I've ordered from the new savzvzyz Savvy

How the front liners came:

How the rear liners came:

So the rear panels that can be "installed raw for a race look" are totally beat to shit. I'm sure you're all happy to know Savvy is as Savvyz as ever. And still no instructions. I know no instructions sort of made sense with their previous branding and the audience but that seems like a misstep with the NEW AND IMPROVED SAVVY DESIGNZ.

Also, no stickers

I'ma go back to not looking at this forum for months, peace.

And therein lies the challenge of product design. If you build a slider that goes wheel well to wheel well, half of your day, each and every day will be spent dealing with everyone who wants them to fit between flares. You'll be the ass that didn't make a product to fit their very specific needs and wants. If you build them that fit between the flares, then you get to deal with folks like you who are quick to call out your mistake.

So, you build a backer that handles anything that might get in under the flares and put a tough slider on top of it. With that, you get a combined strength and resistance to damage that is far higher than most, protection under the flare and a great slider where you need it most.

After that, the only thing that should have been done is a slider that was a foot longer without the end caps welded on. No matter what length you offer with welded caps, it will be wrong depending on what fender and flare option the customer has.

I had to come back to update. Also typical Savvy. Ship a different design than the tons of photos on their product page.

Hopefully you like it better and not worse

Oh it's worse. But it's fine. One of the reasons I bought the one on their site is because it had a nice discrete level logo and no stupid backing panels all over the place. No vents. Looked professional and semi-OEM.

I'm guessing they moved the logo up and rotated it to make their branding more visible behind the tire. I'm going to be painting it all black anyway so really no big deal, just additional area to catch grime. Additional fastening hardware to rust.

Don't mind the bald baby tires, they're just for rolling it in and out of the garage.

Is there something stopping you from mounting the backing plate up front? You'd still have the ugly hardware, but you could cover up the logo and reduce the grime catching lip area.
