What did you do to your other vehicle today?

Wow, DuckNut - you need to take your expertise to Detroit and save the automotive engineering world. Go tell those bean-counters how it is! :sneaky:

And to give you an idea of just how expensive changes in the automotive world are, I'll tell you a story about taking "New Employee Orientation" at Harley-Davidson in 1993. I sat through a presentation from a design team leader that had just completed a project to move the battery on the Ultra Classic touring motorcycle. For years, it resided behind one of the saddlebags, but in that location, that saddlebag had a bump inside to go around the battery. The idea was to make that saddlebag have the same internal storage capacity as the one on the other side. He talked through the dozens of parts affected and presented the engineering, tooling, and testing costs to make the change. Those costs totaled about $2 million - just to move the battery! Life in the automotive engineering world is so much more complex than first glance...

I have a friend who was a Ford engineer. He submitted an idea to save money. They liked the idea and he was given a monetary prize for his idea. The idea involved nearly $2mil change in the production to the parts supplier but saved the company a hell of a lot more than that. Stop painting the underside of the ash trays.

Another friend at Ford submitted eliminating the passenger side key lock as all their vehicles came with push button remotes.

It can be done. Someone just has to calculate the cost of change vs cost savings. Since calculations on working in the tunnel probably is impossible because of all the different shops involved. But if they would use a prototype vs actual, they could probably come pretty close to an accurate calculation of warranty savings.

Never say never.

I bought some new lug nuts for the MR2 today...

Trying not to ruin an expensive Ford GT40 upper intake 🤭

Pulling vacuum connections out and tapping them 1/8" NPT to help clear tall valve covers and just clean things up.

2 just came right out, one broke off flush and I had to mostly drill it out and knock out what was left with a punch, and 2 got the "I'm done fucking around" big boy slide hammer :D

Hidden nitrous under the intake?

Time to try the Cerakote kit on the only car we own with plastic headlites:

New headlite this side, but old DRL/turn signal which is very cloudy...

Opposite on this side...

Headlite came out great...

Another angle.

DRL/Turn signal is somewhat better, but still very cloudy. Thinking its oxidized on the inside... (??)
