I've never ridden in one, but I've wanted one for a while now. I imagine they ride like an older 1-ton dually. It'd probably be a pretty kick ass truck with a V8 swap, maybe a 454.

Worse than a dually 1ton....
They are like most vehicles that I have a desire for and have gone up in price to the point where they are ridicules now.
I've ridden in a couple of old duces, are they that bad?
How much are they asking for them now? I looked probably 10 years ago, and I think a nice running truck was in the $5,000 range.
@Squatch how's the new Ford, did you get it home yet?![]()
You may be surprised to know that I've never partaken in it. Not so much as a single hit. Just wasn't my thing. I drank a little (damn little), but that was it. I actually was a kid who focused on school and maintaining good grades...until I started dating. Girls and cars, cars and girls. That's where my focus ultimately went. Between the two, I never had any interest, time, or money for anything else. Still rarely drink, even now. My son, who's now 32, has never done any form of drugs or alcohol. I can't even get him to take a sip. Just not interested. He's more into computers and building his savings account.![]()
Good for him and good for you!
I've never done drugs or alcohol either. Didn't, and doesn't, make any sense. I still have much of the electronic test equipment I purchased as a teen - how many others can say they still have "whatever" they bought back then?
I could say much the same - if you took my average. I generally got B+ or A in English (except for sophomore comp, the teacher was an absolute BITCH, hated her and her class), A in Electronics, Bs in most other things, C and D in math, D- in penmanship.I was a good kid, but I was focused on anything but school. School wise, I did what was needed and nothing more, generally maintaining a low "B" grade.

Truly, I buy durable goods, tools/vehicles/etc., and I'll go out of my way to figure out what I think is the best for my situation. I tend to follow the buy-once-cry-once philosophy. Like yourself, I know that's considered "weird" in our consumer-culture.
There are 2 things that screw a man up. The smell of gasoline and the smell of perfume.
I'll typically have 0-4 beers a week now and sometimes go weeks without
Well...just put a dress on already, would ya?
Sorry, I had to...truth is I drink even less than you, and not regularly, either.![]()
Probably not going to happen. I've been out working on another project the past couple of days, and giving it some serious thought. The reality is that as much as I like a nice looking ride, I think I enjoy working on them more. I like taking something that has no business ever seeing the road again and working toward making it mobile once more. It seems like that's the only time when I'm truly content. Ten grand may not finish my hardtop, but it'll go a long way towards getting it close to something I'd enjoy driving. I know it may seem bass-ackwards to some, but I really do prefer a shitter car over a shiny one.
